Blu-ray.com is reporting that the classic 80s movie Footloose is getting a limited edition 4k SteelBook just in time for its 40th anniversary. Besides the special packaging, it comes with the 4k blu-ray, a regular blu-ray, and a digital copy.
The regular blu-ray will include the following special features:
- Commentary by Craig Zadan & Dean Pitchford
- Commentary by Kevin Bacon
- “Let’s Dance!” – Kevin Bacon on Footloose
- From Bomont to the Big Apple: An Interview w/ Sarah Jessica Parker
- Remembering Willard
- Kevin Bacon’s screen test
- Kevin Bacon costume montage
- Footloose: A Modern Musical (pts. 1 & 2)
- Footloose: Songs That Tell A Story
- Theatrical Trailer
The 4k disc will be widescreen with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and French 2.0 Dolby Digital. Subtitles are included. The video will be HDR for those with the equipment to decode it, in Dolby Vision.
The slipcover on the back says: “Jumping with the spirit of freedom, dazzling dance numbers, and an electrifying 80s musical soundtrack, FOOTLOOSE is a timeless struggle between innocent pleasure and rigid morality. City-boy Ren McCormick (Kevin Bacon) is new to an uptight small town where dancing has been banned. Ren quickly makes a new best friend in Willard (Chris Penn) and falls fast for the minister’s daughter (Lori Singer), but his love for music and dancing gets him into hot water equally as fast. Featuring a treasury of hit songs, from Kenny Loggins, Shalamar, Deniece Williams, Bonnie Tyler, Quiet Riot, John Mellencamp, Foreigner, and more!“
This is the first time Footloose has been available in 4k. In addition to the SteelBook, a standard edition 4k release will also be available. Amazon for sure has these discs; I suspect other physical media outlets will, too.
